SUBMISSION GUIDELINES FOR RESEARCH CONTRIBUTIONS
THANK YOU for helping us build this page with examples of research projects designed and implemented by occupational therapists.

If you have a completed research or “research in progress” poster that you are willing to share with colleagues, please send this as a PDF file. Please add a short text message to your submission that includes the purpose, design and objectives of the study.  See webpage for examples.

If you have a completed research project that can be overviewed in the form of a short voiced-over PowerPoint presentation, we would love to post your effort.  Guidelines for this type of submission follow below.

We will acknowledge receipt and contact you BEFORE we load your contribution to this website.

VOICED-OVER POWERPOINT GUIDELINES

GOAL: Practitioners will share examples of research projects that they have implemented in criminal justice settings or with persons with criminal histories.

FORMAT: A voiced over Powerpoint presentation. A short video without slides or some other creative movie is also acceptable but visuals will often help get your ideas across effectively.

LENGTH: Please keep the audio presentation to 5-7 slides and 6-8 minutes maximum run-time.

OUTLINE: In order to have some consistent structure we’d appreciate if you would organize your presentation with these elements.

* Slide 1: Provide an opening slide that provides the background to your study and helps set the context for your research. You won’t have time or space to provide a full literature review so just a few bullet points that help a viewer understand some of the rationale for your research focus.

* Slide 2: Specify the research question and the design.  Provide enough information for colleagues to understand your design and to replicate as appropriate. Please identify the context for your study as well.

* Slide 3: Describe your research methods.  Specify the participants, the measures you used and your data collection/data analysis methods.  A graphic may help here.

* Slide 4-6: Share key points in your results.  The format is limiting so it will be a real challenge to give details or share full results. Be judicious.

* Slide 7: Take home points.  End with the bottom line that may help with others transfer the knowledge to practice. It would also be helpful if you share some of the most important the lessons you have learned and any research missteps to avoid.
